CHEST PAIN CLINICS (CPC)

Are an initiative to help address the high burden of cardiovascular disease in India and across the world. It is a solution that will provide high quality neighbourhood diagnostic and acute management facilities for patients with chest pain resulting in better clinical outcomes, reduced admission rates and costs, and improved patient satisfaction. It has been conceived and implemented by Dr Thomas Alexander and Dr Ajit Mullasari, both interventional cardiologists with over 70 years of joint experience diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease.

Our Services

Improving the speed and accuracy of chest pain diagnosis and management should be a priority and is likely to translate to substantive benefits for patients and health systems.
Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) are computer-based programs that assist clinicians by analysing data within electronic health records against domain knowledge and evidence-based guidelines to provide prompts, recommendations and reminders at the point of care.

The CPCs will be equipped with three critical components of patient care, reflecting current guidelines and published literature:

Clinical Decision Support System – CDSS. Well-defined patient care pathways for ACS would handhold the GP or physician in managing chest pain – diagnosis, risk profiling, instituting emergency medications and appropriate triage. The CDSS would also help the doctor in treating the risk factors like diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidaemia.

This will be supported by three critical activities that would ensure the success of this program:
Continuing educational and training programs for the healthcare personnel in management of patients with chest pain. This would include informative webinars, Ask-the-Experts sessions, and on-demand accreditation workshop modules.
Accreditation of the CPC as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in management of chest pain, thus ensuring its acceptability and popularity in the geography that it is located.
Community outreach and educational programs to promote cardiac health and ACS awareness among the general public and local providers. This would also promote the local CPC and identify this facility as the closest recognised centre for any patient with chest pain to access.
